Darkroom turns a photo-gallery site into a premium magazine — warm darkroom tones by default, with a light theme and an automatic mode that follows each visitor's device. The homepage opens on a wall of prints: the covers of your most popular galleries in perspective, recomposed every day for each section, behind a bold headline, a large search field, trending searches and a “Surprise me” chip. On computers, the nearest covers of the wall open their galleries.
Gallery pages read like a magazine: every photo in a justified grid, an “Up next” column, the performer and the channel of the set, chips of its categories and tags, more of the performer and of the channel, and similar galleries below. Photos open in a full-screen viewer with zoom, swipe, keyboard shortcuts, a slideshow and “continue with the next gallery”. Visitors like or dislike, save, share, report and comment — and views are counted only when a gallery is really shown, even with instant navigation.
Everything is organised the way people browse: categories grouped by body, hair & look, origin, outfit, action, setting and style in the menu, on the homepage and on the category index; performers with quick filters and an A–Z index; channels with their latest galleries; every tag A–Z; and popular searches with their own pages. Category, tag, performer and channel pages have their sorts, related performers, channels and categories, quick facts with real figures and titles written the way people search.
Search answers while visitors type: categories, performers, channels and tags with their counts, trending searches, and results ranked by relevance. A private library keeps saved galleries, history and followed performers, channels, categories and tags on the visitor's own device — no account needed — and the new galleries of what they follow wait for them on the homepage. Members can sign in too: their favorites and likes follow their account.
With CTR Ranking installed, Darkroom follows its rankings everywhere — popular lists, trending searches, similar galleries, “Picked for you”, cover A/B tests and the engagement measured in the photo viewer. Without it, galleries are ranked by views. Age Gate, White Label, Captcha and the zones of Advertising — including an ad among the cards of every grid — are supported.
An Appearance studio for everyone: every setting grouped by topic with a search — dark, light or automatic, eight accent palettes or your own colors, logo and favicon, header and quick bar, category groups, the hero wall and the rows of the homepage, the gallery page, lists and cards, footer columns, SEO and speed — with the texts shown to visitors written per language, guides in the admin help and a demo look in one click.
Made for every screen and every language: a bottom tab bar on phones, swipe-friendly sheets, right-to-left layouts and 30 languages included. Fast by design: self-hosted fonts, inline SVG icons, AVIF and WebP walls, lazy media, instant navigation — plus an RSS feed, OpenSearch and llms.txt.
Questions about themes
What does a premium licence include?
One payment for a lifetime licence, with one year of updates included. After that year your theme keeps working; you can renew the updates at any time for 50% off.
How do I pay?
With the credits of your TubePress account, which you top up from your dashboard (1 credit = $0.01).
Can I use a premium theme on several sites?
Choose a licence for 1, 3 or 10 sites. You can move a licence to another domain from your dashboard, or upgrade it later.
Do updates erase my settings?
No. Your appearance settings are saved in your site, so they are kept when the theme updates.
