Importing content

The content catalogue

Browse and import from the 400,000+ video catalogue using credits — no scraping required.

The content catalogue is an optional, paid cloud library: more than 400,000 ready-to-publish videos hosted on tubepress.io. You browse, pick what you want, spend credits, and TubePress imports them into your site — with no scraping or sourcing of your own.

It is entirely optional. Everything else in TubePress works without it; the catalogue is simply the fastest way to launch or grow a site with quality content.

What the content catalogue is

The catalogue is a hosted library you reach from inside the admin — open /admin/import and switch to the Catalogue tab. Each entry comes with a title, description, thumbnails, a preview and full taxonomy, so an imported video arrives ready to publish.

Because the library lives on tubepress.io, you do not maintain scrapers or hunt for sources. You choose; the platform delivers.

A paid cloud feature. The catalogue requires a linked account and credits. If you would rather host your own content, see import and feed import instead.

Connecting your account

Browsing and importing from the catalogue need a linked tubepress.io account. In the catalogue settings you enter your API key and secret; TubePress verifies them and shows your current credit balance.

With an account connected you can import, buy credits and use the AI add-ons. Without one, the catalogue stays in a limited preview and purchasing is disabled.

Connect once. The same linked account powers the catalogue, the AI features and the marketplace — they all draw on one balance.

Browsing & filtering the catalogue

The browser pulls live results from tubepress.io and lets you narrow them down by:

  • Search — free text across titles.
  • Video type — straight, gay or hentai.
  • Category and source.
  • Quality (including a 480p-and-up filter), views and duration ranges.

Results are paginated, and videos you have already imported are flagged and pushed to the end so you never pay for the same clip twice. Thumbnails and previews are streamed through your own server, so the underlying tubepress.io and CDN addresses never appear in the page.

Importing from the catalogue

  1. Select videos. Tick the clips you want; a bulk bar tracks your selection.
  2. Choose what to include. Decide which metadata comes across — views, channel, categories, tags, performers, description and preview — and which transcode formats to generate.
  3. Add AI (optional). Rewrite or translate titles and descriptions on import; each option adds a small credit cost per video.
  4. Confirm. The credit cost is shown before you commit; on confirmation it is deducted and the videos are queued.
  5. Watch the queue. Track progress under /admin/import → Downloads, where you can retry, cancel or clear items.
Small vs large batches. Up to 500 videos import inline; larger selections are handed to a background worker so the request returns immediately and downloading continues on its own.

How imported content arrives

This is the important part: catalogue videos are downloaded to your own storage, not hotlinked. For each purchase your server fetches the video file, thumbnails and preview from tubepress.io's signed CDN, stores them on your configured storage (local disk or your own remote/CDN), and transcodes them into the renditions you selected.

The metadata you chose becomes an ordinary video — with any AI rewrites or translations applied — set to published or draft according to your auto-publish preference. Downloads run through one to three background workers (your choice) driven by the pseudo-cron, so they continue without the admin page open.

Self-hosted after import. Because the files land on your storage, playback never depends on tubepress.io once a video is in. If your storage fills up, the queue pauses until you free space.

Costs & credits

The catalogue runs on credits. Each video costs a number of credits shown before you confirm and deducted from your balance on import. Optional AI add-ons cost extra, per video:

AI optionCost per video
Rewrite title+0.30 credits
Translate title+0.40 credits
Rewrite description+0.30 credits
Translate description+0.40 credits

You top up by buying credit packs through a secure checkout on tubepress.io, reachable from the catalogue's balance panel. If your balance runs out mid-batch, importing stops with a clear message and resumes once you top up.

One shared balance. The catalogue, AI processing and the marketplace all spend from the same credit balance, so keep an eye on it before large imports.
