Managing videos

Videos are the centre of everything in TubePress. The video library is where you add, edit, organise and publish them, and where bulk tools let you manage thousands of items at once. Every other feature — taxonomy, ranking, the player, monetization — exists to serve the videos in this list.

This page covers the library screen, the two ways to add a video, every field on the edit form, thumbnails and previews, publishing status, and the bulk and delete tools you will lean on as the library grows.

The video library

Open /admin/videos to see your whole library as a paginated table. From here you can:

• Search by title to find a specific video.
• Filter by status to focus on just published, draft or private items.
• Select rows with the checkboxes to act on many videos at once (see Bulk actions below).
• Page through large libraries — results are paginated rather than loaded all at once.

Click any row to open it for editing, or use Add Video to create a new one.

Adding a video

Choose Add Video (/admin/videos/create) and give the video a source. TubePress supports two source types, switched with a toggle on the Media tab:

The form is split into three tabs — Content, Media and Relations — with a sticky sidebar for publishing and engagement. Fill in a title, pick a source, and save; everything else can be refined later.

Video details

Each video carries a rich set of fields, organised across the tabs and sidebar:

Content

• Title — the only required field.
• Slug — the URL segment under /video/. Leave it blank to generate one automatically from the title.
• Description — free text shown on the watch page.

For imported or translated videos, the form also shows the original title and description for reference, plus created, updated and published timestamps.

Relations

On the Relations tab you connect the video to your taxonomy with type-ahead pickers:

• Categories
• Tags
• Pornstars (the performers in the video)
• Channels (the studio or brand it belongs to)

Start typing in any picker to search existing entries and click to attach them. See Taxonomy for how to create and manage these.

Publishing & engagement (sidebar)

When a video is stored on a remote storage server, its folder and storage location are shown here read-only for reference.

Thumbnails & previews

A good thumbnail is the single biggest lever on click-through rate, so TubePress gives each video both a still image and an optional motion preview, managed on the Media tab.

• Thumbnail — upload a JPG, PNG or WebP. TubePress keeps a full-size image (1280×720) and a smaller variant (320×180) for grids, and lets you preview both.
• Preview clip — a short, silent, looping video shown when a visitor hovers a card. Previews are produced for you by the transcoder and appear here once available.

Status & publishing

The Status selector controls whether a video is visible to the public:

If a published video is sent for transcoding, it moves through internal processing and, should an encode fail, error states until the job resolves. There is no future-dated scheduling: a video is published the moment you set it to Published.

Bulk actions

For housekeeping at scale, tick the checkboxes in the library and use Bulk delete to remove many videos at once. When you delete a very large set, TubePress runs the work as a chunked background job with a live progress bar and estimated time remaining, and a cancel button — so the request never times out, even across tens of thousands of rows.

Deleting videos

To remove a single video, open it and use its delete action; to remove many, use bulk delete from the library. If you only want to take a video off the site temporarily, set its status to Draft or Private instead of deleting it.
